Millions across the world joined the Women’s March on January 21st. Culturess writers who joined the effort share #whyimarch in their own words.

The day after the inauguration of Donald J. Trump, women’s marches took place across the planet. With an unprecedented turnout in many cities, millions of people joined to stand together.

The Women’s March had a singular vision:

"“We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families – recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.”"

However, everyone had their own story of what provoked them to act. For some it was their first march, for others their protesting muscles were already well developed. More than just pink pussy hats, these individuals had their reasons for joining together. It was a heartening show of united force.

Some have criticized marchers for having so many differences of opinion, but our individuality is something to be treasured. It’s true what they say though, we’re stronger together and there are plenty of shared causes to be the glue of the resistance.

Culturess writers spread across the United States participated in marches and share their thoughts on #whyimarch here. We hope that our words will inspire you and let you know that you’re not alone.
