How to Get Away with Murder Season 3, Episode 10 Recap: Everybody Dreams About Wes
In the first episode of How to Get Away with Murder in the new year, everyone deals with Wes’ death via flashback.
When we last left off with How to Get Away with Murder, Wes was dead, Annalise was under arrest, Laurel’s pregnant, and the cops are starting to catch on to everything that’s happened in the past two seasons. And, just to make sure that we remember Wes is dead, the mid-season premiere opens on Annalise dreaming about a not-dead Wes before waking up to discover she’s going to county jail.
In between shots of Wes’ autopsy, we see Annalise searched before donning her new, very fashionable jumpsuit as well as a wristband. No, the show does not shy away from drawing connections between the two, including showing the M.E. writing “homicide” as Wes’ cause of death while the officer writes the same under Annalise’s list of charges.
Welcome back to How to Get Away with Murder.
Oh, Look, We Found a Mystery
The next morning, Bonnie visits Laurel and tries to get some information out of her. Laurel’s sure that Frank did it.
"Bonnie: “If you tell the police, it will hurt all of us.”Laurel: “Leave, or I will tell them everything.”"
Bonnie keeps everyone else from seeing Laurel. Then, though, she pays Frank a visit to ask him if he really did do this. He denies it. Then comes the visit to Annalise. Bonnie doesn’t quite think she can handle it.
She’s still on the case.
HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER – “We’re Bad People” – With Annalise in jail facing arson and first-degree murder charges, the D.A.’s office continues to build their case against her, and the police investigate what happened to Wes on the night of the house fire. Meanwhile, the Keating 4 try to cope with the devastating realization that one of their own is dead, on “How to Get Away with Murder,” THURSDAY, JANUARY 26 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EST), on the ABC Television Network. Laurel’s the next to get a Wes Flashback Sequence, this time with the two of them in a bathtub. However, her bubbly fun memory gets interrupted by the arrival of the police. She doesn’t remember much — at least not from what she tells them — but she does come to Annalise’s defense nevertheless.
Meanwhile, Michaela, Connor, and Asher walk in to find that Michaela’s mom has left nothing but a sticky note and has put that plane ticket to use.
Love is Still Probably Dead
The D.A.’s office does not take kindly to the fact that Nate spoke to Annalise and passed some information along. In revenge, he mentions that A.D.A. Atwood and he are sleeping together. It’s a smooth move.
Asher gets the next Wes flashback, which is about him accidentally grabbing someone’s butt thinking it was Michaela. Back in the present, Connor visits Oliver. The topic turns to Sam Keating’s death.
"Connor: “Do you really wanna know?”"
Oliver/Connor continues to be dead. My heart continues to be crushed.
Meanwhile, Bonnie and Nate have a conversation that involves an offer of immunity. He tells her not to call again.
Prison continues to not be great for Annalise. This time, the shots are interspersed with Laurel also lying in bed as the rest of the Keating Four walk in. During her next lawyer visit, Bonnie has the bail hearing pushed, and Annalise suspects that Frank’s back on the case even though Bonnie lies about it. (We get to see him bribing a cop even as this exchange happens.)

Connor tells the rest of the Keating Five about Oliver wiping the phone, and he keeps insisting that Annalise did this.
"Asher: “How do we know it wasn’t you?”"
Laurel interrupts Connor’s anti-Wes rant by confessing that the baby’s Wes’, and Asher starts punching Connor when he makes some unsavory comments.
Information’s Important
Connor then gets the next Wes Flashback. The two actually have a semi-meaningful conversation about their dating outside the Keating circle before we see Meggy tending to Connor’s cuts back in the present. Michaela, meanwhile, tells Asher to go home after his little outburst.
With Frank’s ill-gotten information, Bonnie informs Annalise that Hannah Keating placed a call to the cops. Annalise, meanwhile, had drunkenly called her sister-in-law earlier.
"Annalise: “She finally won. It just took me helping her.”"
Michaela’s next in line for a Wes Flashback. It turns out that she knew about him and Laurel. Back at the hospital, she distracts Laurel with talk of kicking her mom out and then promises help.
Prison continues to be not-fun for Annalise, especially when her cellmate says she’s seen her before in court. The bail hearing starts to go downhill for the D.A.s when Bonnie pushes to get Hannah Keating’s name out there.
No, Really: Information Matters
Meanwhile, Connor visits Oliver and insists that he need to go to the police. It comes out that he slept with Thomas, and he drops the title of the episode: “We’re bad people.” He really just wants this all to be over, and he wants Oliver to do it.
Back at the bail hearing, the A.D.A. pulls out the Wes immunity deal. Bonnie loses, and Annalise doesn’t get her bail. Outside, the D.A.s preen and report that Wes died from smoke inhalation.
Asher apologizes to Michaela for his behavior, and he even manages to say that he’s sorry to Connor for, you know, punching him in the face.

That night, Oliver copies Annalise’s phone data, and she goes back to her old cell. Laurel tells Frank she saw someone in the basement that night. He denies it was him.
"Laurel: “I blame you, ’cause it’s always you.”"
In jail, Annalise eats a sandwich and cries, because everything’s falling apart. Bonnie leaves a message for Frank.
He’s at the police station, confessing that he murdered Wes. The last thing we see is Frank picking him up to talk, and Wes gets in the car. Surprise! That spoiler was wrong after all … or was it?
