3. Klaus Baudelaire

As a kid who loved books and wanted to continually read and read, Klaus Baudelaire was more like me than any little boy had ever been. Klaus loves to read but it also makes him one of the smartest kids around. And he isn’t afraid to tell people how smart he is either.

I think it’s that unapologetic nature about him that makes Klaus so cool. He’s polite when he has to be but he doesn’t let adults talk down to him just because he’s a kid. He wants them to respect him and the only one who really does in the beginning is Uncle Monty.

Monty doesn’t see Klaus as a little boy but he rather sees him as more of an equal. They’re both so intelligent and he trusts Klaus and I think that’s the only time in the series when Klaus feels like he belonged. Their parents raised them to be intelligent and to do their best but once their parents die, Uncle Monty is the only one who really listens to Klaus and Violet and trusts their intelligence.

Also, it’s just cool to see a lead character who loves reading as much as he does especially since most of us were reading when we learned about Klaus.
