10. Nightcrawler

Man, everyone loves Nightcrawler. It’s tough not to, honestly. He’s charming, talented, handsome, and is blue. People like blue folks, right?

Aside from the blue, furry skin, Nightcrawler is kind of weird-looking. Not the strangest X-Man, by far (that quasi-honor might go to the original appearance of Beak), but still kind of out there. That same deep blue fur allows him to practically disappear into the shadows. He’s also got two-toed feet, three-fingered hands, yellow eyes, and a tail.

Long before he hit puberty and developed his mutant powers, Kurt had become a talented gymnast. His abilities only got better once he hit mutant-hood and gained the ability to teleport. He can transport himself and, on occasion, other people, by taking a side trip through another dimension. At one point, he also gets a race of tiny demonic imps, known as “bamfs”, thanks to his father.

It’s no wonder that the people who first saw baby Nightcrawler (also known as Kurt Wagner) assumed he was a demon. Oh, and Mystique is his mom. His father is a shapeshifting mutant demon individual named Azazel. Family trees in the Marvel universe are way more dramatic than yours or mine, I hope.

Nightcrawler, who is a intelligent, kind, and deeply religious man, doesn’t have an easy path in the world. Humans are frightened of his appearance or at least try to exploit it, as when he was part of multiple circuses as an acrobat and freak show denizen. Still, he remains utterly charming.
