Project Runway Junior Season 2 Recap: Hit the Lights!

So, Aya Kanai is wearing a skirt and blazer combo with a shirt that “from this distance” (which is through the computer) looks like it has dinosaurs on it. Kelly looks like a distant relative of the Pink Ladies four times removed. Meanwhile, Hannah looks like she’s about to start nesting and Siriano looks like somebody I used to steal lunch money from. He just needs a pen protector to complete the outfit. Chelsea won the last challenge, so she’s safe. But after tonight, there will be no more immunity. Since it was used on A’kai two weeks ago, the Tim Gunn SaveTM is no longer available.

Cartier: Cartier made a dress that I honestly believe is pretty superb and futuristic. Her colors match really well, and I like the triangular pocket flaps a lot. I’d wear it. More importantly, I’d pay a pretty penny for it. Regardless, she’s safe.

Allie: The lights on Allie’s outfit aren’t bright enough on the runway. But her pink skirt dress thing is cute. For a fourteen-year-old, I guess.

Chelsea: Chelsea’s “stormtrooper 2.0” didn’t go over well with judges. I mean, really doesn’t sit well — Hannah said she’s lucky to have immunity.

Chris: Chris made a skirt that turns into pants with the LEDs. And he decided the top and bottom go together, even though they don’t. Meanwhile, Hannah makes a face because he didn’t have a technical reason for anything other than that’s what he wanted. His dress is very Rainbow Fish. Because he decided to be different, he wins the challenge.

Izzy: Izzy’s design has her name on the back. While the judges think it’s cute, I think it’s… juvenile. What a shock. They’re children. But like, she’s got LEDs hanging off the bottom like afterthoughts. I think it’s uncreative and doesn’t resemble Izzy’s true spirit. She gets points just for branding. Also, it reminds me of Finding Nemo.

Tieler: Now, Tieler’s is so boring. But the judges love it. Obviously, the back could’ve had more, but the “mannequin” inspiration leaves much to be desired.

Molly: I still love Molly’s outfit under the lights. The judges love it too and love that she went for that pattern, except for Aya. She’s not super impressed and wants to uncap Molly’s true potential. Of course, Molly executed her design perfectly but could’ve used more lights. But if it wasn’t an LED challenge, she nailed it.

Hawwaa: Sadly, Hawwaa’s is boring, too. Apparently, Kelly is the only one who likes it.

A’kai: A’kai spent too much time trying to hide the battery pack and the judges know it. Plus, his color is really safe.
Next: Project Runway Junior Season 2 Recap: Step it Up!
Despite receiving the Tim Gunn SaveTM not too long ago, A’kai is sent home because his design looked unfinished. Unfortunately, he feels bad for letting Tim down and rejects everyone’s hugs so he can sit quietly by himself. Then, he apologizes to Tim, who assures A’kai “it’s not a denigration of [his] qualities or abilities” before telling him to pack up his workspace.
