In The Avengers, Captain America doesn’t rely on technology. Can you blame him? He’d only been unfrozen for a short amount of time; technology would be strange and foreign to him. So when things start to smell a little off, rather than wait for Tony Stark’s hacker tech to find out what Nick Fury’s really up to, he goes on the hunt himself.

And it works out! Because while Fury skirts around what Tony has found, Steve storms in and slams down the Hydra tech, leaving the cold, hard evidence on the table. How can you dance around it when it’s staring you in the face?

He does the same thing in The Winter Soldier. Granted, that also has to do with the fact that he becomes a fugitive from SHIELD thanks to Hydra. But even before that, he was starting to wonder about Fury’s motivations. And after dealing with his sketchiness in The Avengers, can you blame Cap?

He takes matters into his own hands because he sees no other way. Everyone treats him with their kid gloves on and he’s much older and much wiser than them. Don’t underestimate him just because he was doing time as a Cap-sicle for seven decades.
