Game of Thrones is Recasting an Actor for Season 7
By I. A. Melton
It looks like Game of Thrones is making a change and will be recasting a member of the Tarley family ahead of Season 7.
You would think if you didn’t die at the end of the season of Game of Thrones you’re a shoe-in to come back, not so for one member of the Tarley family. Actor and model Freddie Stroma made his first appearance during season 6 of Game of Thrones as Samwell Tarley’s brother Dickon. Stroma is best known for playing Cormac McLaggen in the Harry Potter movies and television show UnReal.
During the annual TCA press tour, Freddie Stroma broke the news to IGN that the Tarley family would be back for season 7, but he wouldn’t be among them. Stroma has a full-time gig on ABC’s Time After Time and can’t film both shows at the same time. He did have this to say about his time on Game of Thrones.
"“Just to be on set and kind of feel like I was in that world, I was a fan sitting there at the table doing that scene.”"
Recasting is not unusual for such a long running series like and a cast this big. Game of Thrones production has experience with dealing with recasting. They have recast the blink and you will miss them roles of Beric Dondrrion and Reichard Karstark. Game Of Thrones has even recast people in bigger roles like Daario Naharis, Myrcella and Selvse Baratheon, the Three-Eyed Raven. Heck, they’ve recast The Mountain three different times. Lucky for the show, each time they made a change it was for the better or people didn’t even notice. Now if we could just get anyone at HBO or Game of Thrones to confirm when season 7 will premiere.
