Culturess’ Ranking of The Legend of Zelda Games
9. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap feels like a continuation of Oracle of Ages and Seasons, though the Hyrule Historia tells us that in the universe of the games, The Minish Cap actually precedes the two of them and is, in fact, one of the earliest stories in the series. However, in real life, The Minish Cap came out later.
Here’s why it feels like Ages and Seasons: The Minish Cap is a handheld game, developed primarily by Capcom in conjunction with Nintendo, that also involves a gimmick that dominates a significant portion of the gameplay. In the case of The Minish Cap, it’s the titular item, a sentient hat (meaning it’s both gimmick and companion) that allows Link to shrink down to a microscopic size and explore the world of the Minish, small people who live on the surface of Hyrule.
Here’s why it’s also tied to the Four Swords games: the primary villain is Vaati, and the events of this game, in fact, are probably how he became sealed in the first place.
Anyway, The Minish Cap isn’t really that long in the main quest, all things considered, but the fact that Link is basically Ant-Man is pretty fun, and it has some excellent music despite originally coming out on the Game Boy Advance.
