Culturess’ Ranking of The Legend of Zelda Games
16. The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes
Before you start being concerned that Nintendo’s lost its collective mind by referring to the Tri Force as opposed to the Triforce, also known as the big shiny golden triangles of power, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes involves three separate Links, so you have a force of three. Yes, it’s a pun. It’s not necessarily a very good pun, but it’s a pun nevertheless.
Anyway, Tri Force Heroes sends the Links to the land of Hytopia, where fashion is absolutely everything. Together, the Links must go through the usual spate of dungeons to break a bad-fashion curse, wearing different costumes along the way, since green tunics are out unless they’re deliberately described as “timeless” as with the “Timeless Tunic” outfit.
Here’s the major problem with Tri Force Heroes: it can be played as a single-player adventure, but it really shouldn’t. However, it’s also not easy to play with people over the Internet and try and coordinate to solve puzzles. Really, the way to play is locally, since then you can actually speak to people and make sure that everyone’s on the same page.
However, this game also lets Link wear Zelda’s dress, finally solving years of confusion about why the series’ main character isn’t actually named Zelda.
