6. Taco Bell
Taco Bell is yet another food franchise that knows their audience and is using social media to engage with their clientele. Sometimes their posts seem like they may be trying a bit too hard to be funny or to go viral, but they are certainly entertaining. What’s really great about their social media is how they’re using various digital platforms for different kinds of marketing.
On Twitter, they’ve got this thing called a #TacoEmojiEngine which does nothing more than respond to anyone who mentions them in a tweet with a random image or gif. Over on YouTube, they’re featuring “Taco Tales,” a collection of short videos described as “a series about the crazy, unexpected things fans have done in pursuit of Taco Bell.” (These videos just happen to use music from bands who are part of Taco Bell’s “Feed the Beat” program.) And they’re also using Snapchat’s short video format to promote their “Live Mas” campaign which includes things like fan contests, menu hacks, and event reporting. At one point, you could turn your face into a taco by using a special Taco Bell sponsored Snapchat lens.
With Taco Bell’s approach of making the most of every social media platform available, and then cross-promoting each of those, they are doing an outstanding job of digital marketing. It’s effective and it’s fun. (Don’t forget to check out that “Feed the Beat” thing while you’re at it.)
