10. Mr. Robot

TV shows that really want to connect with their fans should take a look at what the team behind Mr. Robot has been up to for the past two seasons. The Mr. Robot Twitter account takes live-tweeting to a whole new level. They go beyond Q&As and RTs; they add to the whole mind twisting experience of watching the show by interacting with fans while the show is on.

First, there are the cryptic responses. Anyone who watches Mr. Robot knows that this show keeps you guessing. The Twitter account does the same thing. You ask a question, you get an answer that isn’t really an answer. It may just confuse you even more. Then there are the customized digital gifts, like animated images that contain a tweeter’s name or profile photo.

The cherry on the surreal sundae, though, are the actual random gifts that they send to fans. One minute you’re live-tweeting the show with the #MrRobot hashtag, the next minute you’re getting a DM from them asking for your address. A few weeks later, a package arrives containing a mask like the one fsociety uses or a t-shirt with Darlene on it. Random free stuff is a great way to impress fans and earn their loyalty. Some of them may even wear their Darlene t-shirt every week while they’re watching the show. *cough*

Aside from the live-tweeting, the cast and crew also make appearances on a live after-show event on Facebook, similar to The Talking Dead except that it’s strictly online.
