Fans Want Princess Leia to be an Official Disney Princess

Since Carrie Fisher’s unfortunate passing, fans have started a petition to make Princess Leia one of Disney official princesses.

Fans all over the world mourned the loss of their Princess Leia. When Carrie Fisher passed away, many remarked about her importance as an actor, writer, and mental health advocate. But since, many have wanted Carrie to be honored in a whole bunch of different ways.

Most recently they have all started a petition to have Princess Leia become an official Disney princess. The current canon of Disney princesses has a few requirements. They must be from an animated movie, they must be the lead of their movie, and they must be a part of the Disney company.

Leia, unfortunately, doesn’t fit two of the three requirements. But that is not stopping fans from wanting her to be honored in the Disney canon. So far, the petition has gathered almost 75,000 signatures in an effort to make our galactic princess true Disney royalty.

Currently at Disney, you can buy her princess Alex and Ani bracelet and lots of other Disney merch with her likeness on it. But you can’t meet Leia in the park (you can see her in shows though) and she doesn’t get to do anything the other princesses do at Disney parks.

So can this fan petition get any traction? Who knows. Disney is particular about things and maybe they just don’t see the value in promoting Leia into being a Disney princess. It’d be wrong and idiotic for them to think that but we also don’t know why Leia hasn’t become a Disney princess right from the start.
