Trailer For The Carrie Fisher And Debbie Reynolds Documentary Bright Lights
By I. A. Melton
The trailer for HBO’s highly anticipated documentary Bright Lights about the bond between the late Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds will heal you.
HBO originally had plans to air Bright Lights: Staring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds later in 2017. But after the untimely passing of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds at the end of the year, they decided to move up the premiere.
The 95-minute documentary was filmed over the course of 2014 through 2015, leading up to Reynolds receiving her Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award. Bright Lights is directed by Alexis Bloom and Oscar-winner Fisher Stevens (The Cove).
In a recent interview with People Magazine, the directors said “We started out making a film about Hollywood royalty… And we ended up making a film about love.”
Take a look at the trailer for Bright Lights: Staring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds below.
Like most people, I am still reeling from the news of the death of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. It was so quick and unexpected. I grew up watching both actresses, and like most girls growing up in the 80’s I wanted to be Princess Leia. Like most of her fans, I have read most of Carrie Fisher’s books, so I’m familiar with her relationship with her mother.
Even so, I wasn’t prepared for the trailer of Bright Lights. For a glorious but brief 1 minute and 50 seconds, HBO gave Fisher and Reynolds back to us all. We got to see Carrie being playful and Reynolds lighting up the room without even trying. And for a fleeting moment, we can all pretend they are still with us.
Make sure you clear your schedule and stock up on tissues. Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds will debut on Jan. 7 (8/7pm) on HBO.
