If you were on the fence about watching the Tom Hardy TV series, Taboo, this new trailer should seal the deal.
Talk about stating 2017 television season with a bang. The premiere date of the highly anticipated Tom Hardy television series, Taboo, is just days away, but if you were still on the fence about watching this gritty historical drama, a new trailer just dropped. Believe me when I tell you that Taboo has the potential to be the watercooler event of 2017.
The series takes place in 1814. It follows James Keziah Delaney (Hardy) as he returns to his hometown of London after the death of his shipping magnate father. Delaney is a man who has been changed from his time overseas and is unwilling to change back to the gentleman he once was. You might have noticed Tom Hardy isn’t the only big name in Taboo. The cast includes Jonathan Pryce (Game of Thrones), Oona Chaplin (The Longest Ride), and Michael Kelly (House of Cards). All are incredible actors who have the potential to elevate Taboo to a level of success enjoyed by other dark TV shows.
Tom Hardy is utterly frightening in this new trailer. That’s saying a lot considering he’s played scary characters like Bane in The Dark Knight Rises and a murdering frontiersman in The Revenant. In other words, he has a real knack for this kind of character.
Taboo is a labor of love for the Hardy family. Tom and his father Chips wrote the original story. Ridley Scott, director and friend of the family has stepped in to produce the series.
If you missed the first Taboo trailer released last month, you can see it below.
The FX special television event will have a total of eight-episode run and starts Jan. 10 at 10/9c on FX and Jan. 7 at 9:15 on BBC One.
