Season 8: Logan’s Miss Comet Galaxy

Our other runner up of the season was Rayce’s contestant, Logan. He actually won the popular vote, which the show had brought back on the condition that it meant little and counted for less. (His win there may have actually been what sealed the deal for Darla. That and, as McKenzie crassly announced, Darla’s win really meant Laura Tyler won twice, marring Darla’s moment.)

One of his best looks of the season, and my overall favorite, was the one he did for the Alien Beauty Contest Challenge. It was a really interesting concept, and very daring because unlike the ones that made the top (this was mushy middled through to safety), he didn’t try to make his alien conform to human beauty standards at all. I loved the inhumanness of the face–really brave on a “beauty” challenge–and the big bright ball embedded in the forehead. The Maleficent style costume detracted badly from the face work, but for heaven’s sake, as has been repeated many times, it’s a make up contest and not a costume one. I’m sorry he didn’t make the Top Three that week. Ironically, it was Darla’s really quite dull look that won instead.
