7. “Xmas Party” – The Inbetweeners, Season 1

This show may not be as popular in the U.S. as it is in the U.K. but I highly recommend watching the series and the two movies on Netflix. You won’t be disappointed. The Inbetweeners follows four high-school aged boys who are just trying to navigate the world and maybe get their first kiss along the way. Will, Simon, Jay, and Neil each have a wild ride in this episode during Rudge Park Comprehensive’s very first Christmas Prom.

Will isn’t a popular student, but is determined to throw the best Christmas dance the school has ever seen. Despite concerns that it’ll be an utter disaster, the dance actually goes off without a hitch. That is, until school bully Mark Donovan threatens Will for putting some moves on his ex-girlfriend Charlotte. There’s actually a cute moment when the entire student body tells Mark to leave Will alone, especially since he threw such a nice dance. But the spirit of the season didn’t last too long, since Will tries to make a self-congratulatory speech that no one wants to pay attention to.

All four teens have a lot of confidence issues to overcome throughout the series, but it’s humbling to see them all join back up at the end of the episode. They exemplify the importance of friendship that extends far past the holiday season. This show is definitely one for the record books.
