2. Harry and Godric’s Hollow

Harry James Potter was born to James and Lily and lived in Godric’s Hollow when Voldemort killed both his parents before trying to kill Harry. We knew all that from the first book in the series. What we didn’t know was what Godric’s Hollow was really like.

Harry had never been able to return so we, as the audience, didn’t get to see it. So when Harry and Hermione had to return to his childhood home, fans finally got to experience where Lily and James lived.

The scene in Godric’s Hollow is one of the saddest in the series. Hermione and Harry go to see his parents’ grave. They’re walking through and realize that it is Christmas Eve. It is just the two of them, and it is a very sad build up through the series.

It is the last Christmas we get to see in the books and Harry got to spend it with the people who matter most to him: one of his best friends and his parents. That’s especially poignant, since he thought that this whole adventure could lead to his death.

But the Godric’s Hollow scene is extremely important. We get to see Harry in his home and finally visiting the grave of his parents.
