C-3PO

Yeah, I went there.

C-3PO’s only role in Star Wars is to negate everything R2-D2 beeps or does.

“Artoo, you’re going to get us killed.” *Artoo saves everyone*

“Artoo, be quiet.” *Artoo relays an important message*

Obviously, I know he’s iconic and Star Wars wouldn’t be the same without him. His sassy commentary is amusing, especially when he points out that everyone’s likely to die. But often, I feel the less we see Threepio, the better.

And aside from the commentary, what did he do? Translate? Run amok? Leak oil? It’s one thing to have a neurotic character, but to make it a neurotic droid in gold? Not even fair.

But here’s my biggest problem: Bail Organa wipes Threepio’s mind at the end of Revenge of the Sith. Because we never saw it in the movies, there’s a possibility that Artoo’s data remained intact. So, I’m sure — because Artoo is good and smart — Artoo probably told Threepio at one point, “You’re not going to believe this buddy, but your maker is a bad, bad guy. Also, Master Luke is his son. I think.”

At this point, I know with absolute certainty that all Threepio would say is, “No, you’re wrong. Bye, Felicia.”

Threepio thought he was superior to Artoo because he could walk, talk and communicate to the people, but if he wasn’t saying anything important, then he really had no point whatsoever.

We should just wipe his mind at the end of every movie until he grows a better personality.
