Big deal alert! Loretta Lynn hasn’t released a holiday collection since 1966 with Country Christmas. The other cool thing about this one is that is includes a new original holiday song, “White Christmas Blue” (Same as the album title), which Loretta wrote with Shawn Camp. Original holiday songs have a hard time becoming classics, but there is little doubt that Loretta’s new song will go down as a seasonal favorite. If nothing else, you should definitely put it in your playlist rotation.
White Christmas Blue is a satisfying eclectic mix of spiritual Christmas songs (“Away in a Manger” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful”) with fun, pop hits like “Frost the Snowman” and “Winter Wonderland”. Be sure to also check out her other two original songs that were redone for this album, “Country Christmas”, and “To Heck with Ole Santa Claus”.
Country fans and otherwise alike will love this new collection from an old favorite.
