13. Liz Lemon (30 Rock)

On multiple occasions, Liz Lemon dressed up as Princess Leia in order to weasel out of jury duty. If that doesn’t make you a huge nerd, then what will?

Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) is the head writer for TGS, a spoof of Saturday Night Live. This means that she’s practically a geek for a living. In addition to the whole Leia scheme (which falls flat when she tries the same thing in an NYC court), she frequently exclaims “By the hammer of Thor!”.

Like many a nerd, she’s a near-hermit who loves her questionable junk food. Said food includes Sabor de Soledad (“flavor of loneliness”) and “night cheese”. If you look closely in the scenes featuring Lemon’s office, you’ll see a ton of food paraphernalia throughout.

Liz Lemon is also deeply neurotic. She frequently worries about the costs of living alone (like choking to death in her apartment) and fixates on her particular future as a romantic partner and mom.

And, finally, like many of the women and girls that are featured on this list, she occasionally lets her earnestness and personal morals get the better of her. In “TGS Hates Women”, Liz is horrified to learn that some people think her show is misogynistic. To combat this, she hires a female writer, Abby Flynn. However, Abby turns out to be the opposite of what Liz wanted – she’s a pink-wearing, baby-voiced woman who plays on some of the writer’s’ worst stereotypes about women. Without giving too much away, Liz’s plans to expose Abby’s deal backfire spectacularly.
