26. Anakin Skywalker, Jedi Knight

While doing the research for this collection, I immediately said “Anakin Skywalker, Bad Boy” when I saw this outfit again in ROTS.

And that’s just it: Anakin has black leather, a black under-robe, and black boots. No room for those fawn and natural colors here, like other Jedi tend to wear.

You know who else wears black as a young Jedi Knight who has issues with his anger, but tries to resist giving in? Luke Skywalker. Like father, like son, we see. Or, perhaps more appropriately, like son, like father, since Luke did it first in our world.

At this point, he also sports a black leather glove to cover his mechanical hand, which actually has some metal accents on it, subtly calling to Darth Vader’s white and silver accents. Luke’s glove covering his own mechanical hand has just the one metal piece that we can spot, but we’ll discuss that in more detail later.

By the time of ROTS, Anakin starts skirting closer and closer to the dark side before tipping over close to the end of the movie. Even by the time of AOTC, he has started incorporating darker colors into his Padawan robes, but black doesn’t show up until ROTS — and neither does Darth Vader.
