3. Gary Johnson Bites His Tongue, Literally

Even though Johnson is third-party, he still manages to make this list twice. Like his first mention, this moment has made him stick out in the minds of the public. Whether or not that’s a good thing remains to be seen. MSNBC has had the fortune (or misfortune) of being the centre of his antics. In an interview before the first presidential debate, Johnson discussed his polling chances if he were allowed to take the stage. What he did next took the interviewer and audience off-guard.

After talking about voter frustration, Johnson proceeded to stick his tongue out of his mouth. Talking with his tongue out, he claimed that he stand like that and “not say anything” for the whole debate and still lead. While the debates have certainly had their ups and downs, silence was not one of them.

Although Johnson still had plenty more to say during his interview, this was the most memorable moment for American viewers. The threshold of presidential dignity may not be high, but having your tongue hanging out on live television is probably a new one. Hopefully it’s not a trend that’s here to stay. Seeing it happen once was awkward enough.
