The AP projects Republican Todd Young will win the Indiana Senate race. Democrats had a chance to pick it up with candidate Evan Bayh, but alas, it was not to be.

8:28 PM ET:

The AP projects Trump will win Alabama. It has 9 electoral votes.

Additionally, BuzzFeed News, citing the AP, says that Florida voters have approved a measure to legalize medical marijuana.

8:20 PM ET:

Polls closing in 10 minutes: Arkansas.

8:15 PM ET:

And now, an electoral map from NBC News:

Once again, these are all projections. However, none of these results are real surprises. By NBC’s count, Clinton leads 75-66 in the electoral votes. CBS has it as 68-57, Clinton, as does ABC.

8:10 PM ET:

Outlets like CBS project that Tammy Duckworth will win the Illinois Senate race, representing the first Republican to Democrat switch of the night.

The AP has called the Florida Senate race for Marco Rubio, who has thus won re-election.

8:00 PM ET:

CNN projects the following wins:

Hillary Clinton: Delaware, Washington DC, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island

Donald Trump: Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Mississippi

Stand by for additional updates.

7:55 PM ET:

NBC News and BuzzFeed News have both called South Carolina for Donald Trump, giving him 9 electoral votes.

That puts his lead at 33-3, but lots of states still haven’t even closed their polls. In other words, keep breathing.

7:50 PM ET:

Polls closing in 10 minutes: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire (parts), New Jersey, Oklahoma, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and Washington DC.

7:37 PM ET:

Early results out of Florida may seem close, but it appears promising. CNN has reported that Clinton is currently outperforming Obama with a good portion of the votes in. In other words, this might — might — be an early night.

7:34 PM ET:

And now, a brief moment from President Barack Obama, via BuzzFeed News.

7:30 PM ET:

The AP projects Donald Trump will win West Virginia, with 5 electoral votes. Based on projections, he currently has 24 electoral votes to Hillary Clinton’s 3. Again, that’s not a surprise.

Additionally, NBC projects Rob Portman will win the Ohio Senate race. Not surprising, either.

7:24 PM ET:

Polls will close in 6 minutes in Ohio and West Virginia as well as parts of North Carolina.

From the “I’ll see this one in my nightmares” files, a Donald Trump cake at his election night party:

Glad to see they gave him his red tie of power! Also, we see that lighter color around his eyes. Nice touch.

7:16 PM ET:

And now, a brief Senate update. Politico reports Republicans Tim Scott and Rand Paul will return to the Senate for South Carolina and Kentucky, respectively. Patrick Leahy, a Democrat, has also been re-elected in Vermont.

No surprises there.

Numbers are also starting to come out of Florida, but no one has started tea-leaf reading of those numbers yet, which should tell you everything.

7:12 PM ET:

CNN reports that North Carolina’s Durham County will extend voting at polling places after technical issues halted voting earlier in the day. The additional time ranges from 20 minutes to a full hour.

7:07 PM ET:

The Associated Press reports 1 person has died and 3 are injured in the reported shooting in Azusa, California.
