Mark (Love Actually)

When it comes to Love Actually, there are lots of amazing male leads. With Mark, his love story is sad and he doesn’t even end up with the girl but that’s what makes it so real. Mark, played by The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln, is cold and distant to Juliet. She marries his friend Peter and Mark goes out of his way to make sure the wedding is perfect.

She thinks it’s because Peter is his best friend when, in reality, it is because Mark is in love with Juliet. When her wedding videos come out terrible, she asks Mark to see his footage and it is all just close ups of Juliet.

While it turns a little creepy and makes Mark a bad friend to Peter, it’s the kind of unrequited love that we all experience at some point in our lives. He loves Juliet but he can’t do anything about it really. So on Christmas, he tells her his feelings, gets a kiss, and says “Enough now”.

Though he doesn’t end up with the girl, it’s Mark’s grand gesture to show Juliet how he feels that is still one of the most iconic scenes in Love Actually. Because, to us, Mark is perfect.
