Patrick Verona (10 Things I Hate About You)

On the day that Heath Ledger died, there were two movies that everyone chose to watch. It just depended on which version of hot young Heath you loved best. If you were the type who loved a knight in shining armor saving you, you put on A Knight’s Tale. If you were more the type of person who was into the bad boy turned love interest, you watched him as Patrick Verona in 10 Things I Hate About You.

Based on the Shakespeare play The Taming Of The Shrew, 10 Things I Hate About You follows Patrick trying to get Kat to date him so that Cameron can date Bianca, her sister. It is so much like the play that it is based off of that the titles even rhyme.

The thing about Patrick is that he’s just your typical teenage boy but the scene where Heath dances and sings “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” to Kat as she practices is one of the reasons we all loved Heath Ledger. He was an amazing actor who could bring just depth to his roles but he also had a fun side and that was so clear in his singing scene.
