Tripp (Failure To Launch)

When Failure To Launch came out, all of us asked why. It’s very typical romantic comedy. A man is hot, successful and good with the ladies but there’s a catch; he still lives at home. So his parents call in a specialist to get him out of the house but she breaks her own rule and ends up falling in love with him.

The other characters in this movie are almost more interesting than Tripp but there is just something so wholesome about the fact that he loves his parents so much that he wants to stay living in their home that makes him charming. He wants to stay there because he’s close to them. How great is that?

While he is very much the typical romantic lead, he has that little quirk that makes him special. He’s handsome and charming but he loves his parents more than anything in the world. It’s rare, especially in romantic comedies, to find someone who loves their family so fully.

Most these movies have broken relationships or a dead relative that give the male lead ‘character’ but Tripp’s comes from the fact that he loves his family very much. He’d do anything to stay with them and that’s extremely special.
