Fitzwilliam Darcy (Pride and Prejudice)

Fitzwilliam Darcy is the definition of a love interest. He’s one of the first men that many of us fell in love with and it has only continued to grow with each new version of Pride and Prejudice. Whether you read the book in school, watched the PBS version, the Keira Knightley one or even Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, you still end up loving Mr. Darcy.

It all started when he refused to dance and made himself seem like the most unbearable man to be around. Since he seemed to hate our darling Lizzie, it was even more surprising when he said “you must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire you” when he asked for her hand in marriage.

The thing about Darcy is that he does things by doing these grand gestures to show his love. Like when he forced George Wickham to marry Lizzie’s sister Lydia so her name would not be tarnished and then refused to tell Lizzie he did it. Just little things like that.

He’s a proud man and many mistake it for arrogance but he is, in fact, a very open hearted man and only does what he thinks is best and apologizes when he’s wrong. Also, he looks pretty good in a soaking wet shirt.
