Jamie (Love Actually)

Again, writers are hot. Jamie in Love Actually has the sweetest love story and it’s just him trying to figure out his own life. In the very beginning of the movie, we see Jamie’s girlfriend sleeping with his brother and it forces Jamie into a house alone for the holidays to focus on writing away from the drama in his life.

He gets a new house keeper named Aurelia and, despite their language barrier, the two begin to fall in love with each other. His favorite part of the day is getting to spend time with her when he drives her home and her least favorite part of the day is saying goodbye to him.

There’s a cute back and forth scene when Jamie’s book goes flying into the lake and him and Aurelia have to jump in to save it. And then, in the sweetest thing to ever happen in movie history, Jamie and Aurelia meet up weeks later when Jamie comes to profess his love and it’s revealed that the two had separately taken classes to understand the other.

Jamie proposes to Aurelia in Portuguese and she responds in English. It is very fitting for Love Actually as a whole but without this love story, the movie wouldn’t be half of what it is today.
