Marlene Griggs-Knope

Marlene Griggs-Knope would vote for Hillary because she respects a woman who rises up in a sea of men, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t find Trump attractive (which deeply disturbs her daughter). It forces Leslie to compare every man Marlene has ever found attractive to Trump (including Ben) to try and understand it all.

Marlene doesn’t help Leslie volunteer or do any of that, but she goes out and casts her vote on the 8th and goes to Leslie’s party. If Trump wins, she’d be upset about it but wouldn’t really show it. She’d probably just shrug and go about her day like nothing was really a problem.

The thing about Marlene is that she cares very little about things unless it directly affects her and her family. This matters enough to Leslie that she’ll do the bare minimum to try and make Clinton a reality for her daughter.

Marlene may even wear a Clinton shirt to Leslie’s party just to see her daughter and granddaughter happy. Because she knows Leslie and knows that Leslie would love a three-generation picture on the day that the first women president won the election. So Marlene would do it all for herself but primarily for Leslie.
