14. Lorelai & Rory (Devil) Egg Jess’ Car

Season 3, Episode 6 “Take the Deviled Eggs…”

What is a better way to get back at someone you don’t like than by egging their car? And if they are deviled eggs, well then as Luke says, “they must really hate you.” Lorelai and Rory put the deviled eggs forced upon them by Sherry (Madchen Amick) to good use. After a particularly bad baby shower for Christopher’s (David Sutcliffe) new girlfriend, Lorelai needs to take out her frustrations on something. What better way than to egg Jess’ new car, especially since he’s been such a nuisance to the town?

The whole plan is Rory’s idea because she likes Jess but is still dating Dean and can’t do anything about it. Basically this girl needs a lesson in flirting because I’m pretty sure this is not how you do it. But it does make Lorelai feel better about the whole the man she loves having a baby with someone else thing.

Sometimes you need a friend to egg you on (pun intended) to do something crazy and “destructive, but not too destructive.” It turns out to be the perfect catharsis for Lorelai. This light, silly moment that is just what Lorelai needs especially coming from the usually rule following Rory. What better friend/daughter combo could a mother ask for?
