#1: “Oh My God I Think I Like You”

This is, perhaps, a seemingly odd choice for number 1, since it’s a fun little love song directed toward a man other than the one our hero has been chasing for an entire season. But it’s just so damn lovely to finally see Rebecca happy. After months and months of unrequited love, insane rationalizations, possibly illegal schemes, and frequent rejection, Rebecca has made the choice to settle for Greg. But she quickly and unexpectedly realizes that maybe she’s not settling. Maybe she actually, really, genuinely likes him- and she can’t ignore it, despite telling herself that their relationship was supposed to be solely physical.

Lyric highlight:

“Are there condoms that can prevent these feelings?
Is there spermicidal lubricant that can kill the fluttering in my heart?”

It feels like a pop song, but the signature Crazy Ex-Girlfriend quirk (“But while I’m getting pounded- like really trashed- I only wanna look in your eyes!”) reminds us that we’re dealing with something much realer and more relatable, and we can’t help but get sucked right in. It’s a great almost-end note to the season, and it’ll be stuck in your head for days- at least long enough to get you to the new season on Friday, where much more musical magic surely awaits.
