Hotel: Meet The Countess And Donovan

The introduction to the Countess (Lady Gaga) and Donovan (Matt Bomer) was absolutely brilliant. Gorgeously shot and showing us just how twisted their life was, the first scene with the two of them sets the tone for their storyline.

We learn about their lavish existence and their typical night. They wake up, dress in expensive clothing, use cocaine, and then go out for a kill. What a way to bring characters into a show!

Their relationship is very convoluted and layered and we discover that later on. But this initial opening scene was absolutely to die for. Lady Gaga’s costumes as the Countess were the talk of Hotel and her introduction did not disappoint.

Ending their night with a blood soaked orgy, the Countess and Donovan are the twisted vampires we know we’re going to be obsessed with. And that’s exactly what happened. Donovan, who is a completely asshole to his mother, ends up having one of the best character arcs in the entire show.

But truly, nothing would have worked for their characters if we were not given this insanely perfect introduction to them. Every little detail about them left us begging for more and it made us understand just how enraptured all their kills are by them.
