Norah Jones, Day Breaks, October 7th
Welcome back, Norah!
With fun, interesting, sweet, and melancholy piano riffs and lyrics in “Carry On” and “Flipside”, both found on the upcoming album, Norah is the same as she’s always been. Day Breaks comes after a lot of big change for Norah, though, so I’m interested to see what themes we get from the iconic songstress. In addition to losing her father in 2012, Norah has given birth to two children since her last album, Little Broken Hearts in 2012.
"I tried to get high, but you wanted me low Good things are happening, but happening slow It’s some kind of mystery from long ago I finally know who I’m supposed to be My mind was locked but I found the key Hope it don’t all slip away from me Hard times, fun lines Moments pass by and I cry Rewind, step behind It’s hard to find the flipside -“Flipside”"
With an album title like Day Breaks, I can assume we’re going to get a new perspective from Jones, and I, for one, can’t wait. Her music has always spoken to me in a way that was able to soothe and calm my soul. It’s perfect music for a fall playlist.
