Miranda Lambert, The Weight of These Wings, November 18th

Miranda has sort of made a name for herself as the sassy country music star. We know she *can* be sentimental, I mean just take a listen at her mega single, “The House That Built Me.” Really, though, we know her better for songs like, “Gunpowder and Lead” and there’s nothing wrong with that. It keeps country edgy (which they need desperately), in my opinion, especially coming from a woman.

"Sting of the needle dropping on a vinyl Neon singer with a jukebox title full of heartbreak 33, 45, 78 When it hurts this good you gotta play it twice Another vice All dressed up in a pretty black label Sweet salvation on a dining room table Waiting on me Where the numb meets the lonely It’s gone before it ever melts the ice Another vice -“Vice”"

What I think we’re going to get from Miranda on this next album, though, is a softer, more heart-broken, more contemplative side. This album will likely be full of ballads and songs about the internal struggle brought on by the very public breakup with ex-husband Blake Shelton- and the following very public relationship Blake got into with Gwen Stefani.
