Jimmy Eat World, Integrity Blues, October 21st
I wrote once, HERE, that Jimmy Eat World hasn’t done much to impress me since Futures. That was October, 2004. There have been a few albums between Futures and now, and each one has had a song or two (or four…) that I liked. Nothing has really spoken to me like Futures did as an entire album, though. And here we are, twelve years later, in October, with what could be the next Futures.
I’m hoping that drought is over with Integrity Blues. The first two tracks off the album, “Get Right” and “Sure and Certain” have spoken to me, and I CANNOT WAIT for this album to be released.
"I’m, I’m destination addicted I just gotta be some place else Never good time, never feel the space to get it right Get right Hands will find their way To eyes inches from my face My heart gets beating, I drink freely How to hold it down, hold it down? -“Get Right”"
“Get Right” (above) is a little grittier and a little meaner than “Sure and Certain” but both carry a feeling that the band is returning to their roots, even if they have grown up in the last twenty years.
