Luke’s Origin Story

Luke’s origin was hinted at in Jessica Jones and has been teased in the trailer, so hopefully we will get the full details of just how he became the man with the unbreakable skin. Luke’s story hinges on his gang past, his wrongful imprisonment, and the subsequent experimentation that lead to him gaining powers. Hearing that it is hard to not draw some kind of comparison with today’s current events. Having a show that address these issues by merely mentioning them or showing the effect they have on the characters is an important step in creating more important conversations about race relations in the United States even if nothing is explicitly stated.

Another past event of Luke’s that would be good to see is life with his wife, Reva Connors (Parisa Fitz-Henley). Her (spoiler alert) death, in Jessica Jones angered many people because of the lack of agency it provided one of the few people of color in the series. It would be nice to learn more about her to give her character agency and also see their romance and Luke’s struggle to move on.
