10. Agent 13 / Sharon Carter

Who she is: Sharon Carter is like Black Widow, except she’s not an orphaned Soviet intelligence agent. Otherwise, Agent 13 is a skilled martial artist trained in espionage and comfortable with taking orders from the likes of Nick Fury. As the niece (originally, the younger sister) of Peggy Carter, Sharon made her comics debut in 1966. She served as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. alongside Captain America for several years until faking her death to go deep undercover. Brainwashed, she eventually returns to S.H.I.E.L.D. and joins the Avengers.

Why she deserves a TV show: We’ve already met Sharon Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Played by Emily VanCamp, Agent 13 made her movie debut in Captain America: Winter Soldier. As of Civil War, Carter has been in a “relationship” with Steve Rogers, but the most interesting thing about her is her time in the field. She and her team were responsible for apprehending the Winter Soldier / Bucky Barnes, which means, she’s probably come across several other contemptible opponents throughout her career.

Unfortunately, ABC’s Agent Carter series (revolving around Peggy Carter) didn’t last longer than two seasons. Its viewership declined, but I pin a lot of that on the fact that it was set in the 1940s. Much like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a Sharon Carter-centric show would have to run alongside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If ABC can work a deal for a generous amount of appearances from Chris Evans / Captain America and imbue more action into an Agent 13 TV show, its ratings would take off.

Who could play her: Emily VanCamp is no stranger to television. For four seasons, she played Emily Thorne on ABC’s Revenge.
