The Best

Kristen Bell in Zuhair Murad. It’s flawless. It’s floral, it’s pattern, it’s not a safe shape or color, and it’s a stunner.

On the other end of the spectrum, Sophie Turner in a completely safe choice from Valentino. (What not, it works for Gwen Christie!) And yet it’s one of the best things she’s worn.

Viola Davis got her husband to match his bow tie to her Marchesa gown. Now that’s relationship goals.

Laverne Cox heard Beyonce was coming, and dressed to match. (Good thing she did too, since Beyonce did not walk the red carpet.)

LOS ANGELES, CA – SEPTEMBER 18: Actress Constance Wu attends the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards at Microsoft Theater on September 18, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Todd Williamson/Getty Images)

Constance Wu in J.Mendel. How to both wear the safety color of black and totally stand out.

LOS ANGELES, CA – SEPTEMBER 18: Actress Sarah Hyland attends the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards at Microsoft Theater on September 18, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Todd Williamson/Getty Images)

Sarah Hyland in Monique Lhuillier. She’s taking a page from the Emma Watson school of skinny tux pants under a gown skirt. It works.

LOS ANGELES, CA – SEPTEMBER 18: Actress Taraji P. Henson attends the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards at Microsoft Theater on September 18, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Todd Williamson/Getty Images)

There was a lot of yellow this evening, but Taraji Henson’s Vera Wang take on it was my favorite of the night.

LOS ANGELES, CA – SEPTEMBER 18: Actress Niecy Nash attends the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards at Microsoft Theater on September 18, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Todd Williamson/Getty Images)

Christian Siriano is continuing his commitment to dressing women of all sizes and getting them on the best dressed list. Tonight his main benfitiary was Neicy Nash.

I assume this is Giles? (Gwen Christie’s people didn’t put out who she was wearing ahead of time, but it looks very Giles-ish.) I just love that it doesn’t overwhelm her, and it works with her instead.

Rounding out the Top Ten, Tracee Ellis Ross, looking statuesque in Ralph Lauren. Flawless.
