However unoriginal it is, the Beatles are my all-time favorite band. I am always thankful that I wasn’t alive when John Lennon was assassinated because I definitely would have been one of those people who wore all black and stood vigil in Central Park. This is why 2016 cannot take Paul McCartney from us. I don’t think I could take it, especially after the deaths of fellow music legends Prince and David Bowie. The world is such a dark place lately, the loss of such a gentle soul and the man responsible for amazing songs such as “Yesterday”, “Eleanor Rigby” and my personal favorite, “Hey Jude” would be too much. He’s a living legend, a connection to our not so distant past, a man from a time when four lads from Liverpool had the power to change the world with their catchy songs and matching haircuts. And he continues to inspire us in the present, just last year he collaborated on a song with Kanye West and Rihanna. Sometimes it’s hard to remember that the man in 74 years old.

We must protect one of the last two remaining Beatles. Yes Ringo Starr is also alive, but we can’t save them all and if someone is going to be taken by the evil year that is 2016 I bet it would be McCartney. Hey 2016, don’t make it bad, take a bad year and make it better by keeping McCartney alive!
