27. Aidan Turner

To be honest, Mr. Turner is on my mind because of the return of Poldark — at least to British screens. Americans have to wait until September 25th to get back to Cornwall. He stars as Our Hero, Ross Poldark, who is equally prone to doing things like scything and mining shirtless as well as making rash (yet noble) decisions.

This isn’t to knock any of the other fine actors in Poldark, but I’d be lying if I said Aidan Turner wasn’t one of the main draws of the show. And it’s not just because of the shirtlessness or the hair or the fact that he’s ridiculously handsome. His acting is pretty marvelous, too. (It takes talent to brood so effectively and also believably sell being in love.)

Don’t believe me? Check out his work in And Then There Were None from last year on the BBC. I’ve already informally petitioned the BBC to cast him in pretty much every single Agatha Christie adaptation they have coming up. He’s that good.

Fortunately, he’s only 33, so we should have plenty of time left to enjoy his acting skills. There are, after all, several more books in the Poldark series to adapt…but 2016 has not been kind so far, and we’d rather just ask it nicely to leave him alone now.
