10. Still Star-Crossed

(Based on the book by Melinda Taub)

What: The (you should  know this already, but I guess spoiler alert) deaths of Romeo and Juliet were not the end of the story. This book picks up with the Montague and Capulet families, this time telling the story of Juliet’s (Clara Rugaard) cousin Rosaline (Lashana Lynch), who previously rejected Romeo (Lucien Laviscount). Rosaline is set up in an arranged marriage with Benvolio (Wade Briggs) with the hope that this union will finally end the age old feud between the families.

Why We’re Excited: One name: Shonda Rhimes. The show has been announced for the 2016-2017 season, which means it could be a hiatus show for the other Shondaland properties. This means that right now is the perfect time to read the book! Rhimes shows are known for their crazy twists, but reading the source material will help you get ahead. Plus, if Rhimes wanted to adapt it, you know it must be good.

There is only a super short teaser trailer for Still Star-Crossed so far but it already looks incredible. It was shot in Spain, the cast is diverse as heck, and Betsy Beers who also produces the other Shondaland shows is involved. Plus who doesn’t love a little good old fashioned Shakespeare drama!
