9. Daenerys’ Regal Whites (Season 5)

This is the purest of Dany’s ruling looking this season. It’s her pure-as-the-driven-snow gown she wears to both of the pit fights. This is her “I am untouchable” look that she seems to favor when husband Hizdahr is around as well. It’s everything she’s been aiming to be in Meereen. Their perfect Queen who will bring peace to their realm, if only they would stop with the Harpy terrorist attacks and just behave.

The dress fits her like a glove. The lines are long and straight and uninterrupted by a rouch or a weave or any type of fancy distraction. With the built-in cape, it’s the sort of gown one might see Tom Ford put a starlet in on the red carpet. The sole exception is the bar across the neck, which forms a keyhole where her necklaces can rest. (The one pictured above is the bramble-and-thorn look. I preferred her dragon necklace from “The Dance of Dragons”, but the shot of the gown wasn’t as good.)

The only problem? It is completely opposite of who she really is, the black and red of the Targaryen. She has completely lost herself trying to be this thing no one in Meereen wants. Perhaps it is fitting that she spends the beginning of Season 6 being frog marched back to the beginning and the Dothraki horde in the tatters of this gown.
