28. Margaery Tyrell’s Day Dress (Season 3)

It was hard to pick which of the various iterations of this look was the best of the group when going through Margaery’s day dresses that she wore in King’s Landing in Season 3. All of them have the same motif of the blue and gold, a fitted brocade bodice, and a long chiffon layered skirt. In the end, I decided on this one as my favorite of the group, due to the halter top nature of it with the hip cut outs. Also, it’s the one where she sports the metal belt worked in rose gold, with the very obvious thorns. But lest someone fear those thorns, she then girlies it up with the bows on the sides holding the vines up.

Like all of these looks, Margaery sports her signature, pulled from Olenna: the wide strong shoulders. (The better to carry the family’s fortunes on as she prepares to marry a monster.) It turns out to be a popular look. By the beginning of Season 4, we see that many of the maids in King’s Landing have abandoned Cersei’s favored “southron fashion” that we saw Sansa imitating back in Season 1 and are now wearing cheap Margaery dress knock offs.
