5. Die Hard, with Charlize Theron

It’s one of the best “Christmas movies that isn’t your traditional Christmas movie” around, and we all know the classic film that stars Bruce Willis as NYPD cop John McClane. The original film went on to spawn several sequels afterwards, but there’s no denying that the first one is the best. If we’re going to pick any actress who could pull off the resourcefulness of McClane while trying to take down the terrorists who’ve attacked the Nakatomi building, I can think of no one better than Charlize Theron.

Theron is another actor who has the ability to disappear into a part – and she’s also not just believable as a hero but an antihero as well. John McClane is a hero, of course, but he’s a little gruff too. He’s a cop, but he’s a cop with attitude. You like him just enough to root for him in the end – but you can also understand why he’s estranged from his wife at the beginning of the movie. Theron’s kicked butt in films like Mad Max: Fury Road and Hancock. She would absolutely be able to scale buildings, walk over glass barefoot, and throw Hans Gruber off the building at the end.
