7. Drake gets “Uncarriered” for T-Mobile

Much like Peyton Manning, I came for one thing (Aubrey’s sweeping dance moves). I stayed for Drake’s self-awareness as he negotiates with phone carrier representatives to make a more “telepolitically” correct music video.

The audience is transported back to that yellow box and neutral turtleneck sweater that first made the song go bling. Not before long, the shoot is interrupted. The representatives ask lines to be amended, like “When you say ‘call me on my cell phone,’ just add, device eligible for upgrade after 24 months.”

If you’re any degree of a Drake fan, then by now you probably know that Aubrey Graham is from Toronto. It’s so aggressively pushed on his tracks that it warrants a line in the commercial. “I told a lot of people I’m from Canada.”

Not only did Apple finance the video to begin with, but you can stream all the Apple Music you want on T-Mobile. And even though there have been some incredible parodies of the song already, T-Mobile made a smart (and funny) move. They got Drake to basically say that if you want to call him on his cell phone late at night when you need love, T-Mobile is the best carrier to help you do that.
