7 – One Dance – Drake, ft. Wizkid and Kyla

I recommend grabbing the recorded version of this for repeatedly listening rather than the live version above. It’s much smoother and easier on the ears. At least, it is on Drake’s end. Kyla need not worry. She shines live or recorded in “One Dance,”

This song about two strangers dancing in a club and sharing an almost religious moment may not be relatable to everyone turning on the radio. But that’s okay. There’s a comforting beauty in Drake and Kyla’s vocals (especially Kyla’s!) that can gently rock anyone into the mood of “One Dance.” Listen close, and you’ll catch unhurried tropical rhythms underneath, giving the whole piece a world music flavor in the segments where the instruments mesh. It’s heavenly, and a perfect fit for the chance encounters of the summer season. Even if you’re not necessarily on the dance floor, “One Dance” is one of those summer songs for anyone who has felt a fleeting connection and wished it would last.
