12 – KARATE – BABYMETAL

I apologize for posting a song from earlier this year on the list, but I feel very earnestly that we need more JPOP sound in our lives, and also more metal. BABYMETAL is one of the rare moments of Japanese music entering the mainstream in the west outside of anime opening themes. It has the same uplifting melody in the chorus that such themes often doing, bordered by blazing, raging metal with all the intensity that comes with the package. This is the kind of song you listen to during spring cleaning, boss battles, or prep for a difficult job interview.

And because I’m sure you’re wondering, that’s what this song is all about! It’s about continuing forward in spite of difficulties, overcoming tough obstacles, and fighting on even when you can’t seem to stand anymore. Summertime is the best season to feel like you can conquer the world, and BABYMETAL is here to help you do it.
