20 Best Summer Songs of 2016, Ranked
11 – Just Like Fire – P!nk
Yet again, with no commentary one way or the other about the movie this song first appeared in, here is P!nk’s “Just Like Fire,” complete with high wire act. It’s the kind of “be yourself,” pop rock number that we’ve seen a lot of lately, but this one is timely for the summer because you can jam to it while you drive around town, getting up to antics, or sing along into a hairbrush microphone while staying home. The rap section in the middle is full of passion and far too short, because P!nk kills it during that all-too-brief 20 second interlude.
I will admit that the music video, intended to jive with the movie, is discouraging. You know, since P!nk gets shipped off to an asylum for “flying free” by her actual husband at the end with some questionable flippancy. All there is for it is to attempt to attribute this to something in the movie that you may or may not have seen and enjoy the song on its own merits.
