Taylor Swift’s Famous Feuds and Reconciliations

facebooktwitterreddit

Through the years, Taylor Swift has had her fair share of feuds. Let’s take the time to look at some of her most famous feuds, and reconciliations.

First up…

Avril Lavigne

The Fight:

This year, Taylor Swift discovered Tumblr. She then made the mistake of liking this photo;

When Avril got wind of the diss, she tweeted out “Comparison is judging and judging a person does not define who they are it defines who you are. We all Love our fans”.

The Resolution:

This is the best part. Out of nowhere, mid-feud, Taylor invites Avril out to sing “Complicated” with her on her 1989 tour. All is well.

Next: Zayn Malik

Zayn Malik

The Fight:

After inviting Zayn Malik’s ex, Perrie Edwards, on stage, Zayn didn’t let it go. He went to twitter, and re-tweeted this, in reference to Taylor Swift approaching Apple about paying artists;

Taylor stood back on this one, and didn’t say anything. However, her beau, Calvin Harris, couldn’t quite do the same.

The Resolution:

I don’t know if I would call this a resolution, but the duo seems to have kept to themselves since this final exchange. No news is good news.

Next: Lorde

Lorde

The Fight:

Once upon a time, long before Taylor’s Squad came to be, Lorde and Swift were strangers to each other. Lorde went on to say that Taylor Swift was an unattainable idol for young girls, and that it wasn’t healthy. Shortly after the backlash from these comments, Lorde took to her blog to clear things up.

The Resolution:

It wasn’t long after her comments that Lorde became one of Taylor’s besties. The two were (and are still) constantly seen together, partying, shopping, and generally spending their days together. Feud, over.

Next: Blake Lively

Blake Lively

The Fight:

Blake Lively and Taylor Swift are two of my favorite people on earth, so when I heard rumors of a feud, I was saddened. Lively posted the following photo, with the caption ” “…soooo, turns out this WASN’T a video shoot for John Legend’s cover of Bad Blood,”.

I, for one, thought this was cute and funny, however I must have missed something, because fans started claiming that she was throwing shade at Swift.

The Resolution:

This “feud” was crushed in no time, when Blake instagramed and photo of family with Taylor Swift, shortly after, with the caption “Umm whoever thought I was throwin shade clearly doesn’t know I have a ‘Taylor Swift Please Be My Wife Voo Doo Doll #obsessed, Look how rad she is here making my niece Heather feel like a rock star. Love my Canadian family almost as much as I love Taylor Lively. I mean Swift. Ok, FIIINE we can hyphenate our last names. Xo Blake Swift-Lively 4eva.”. Was there ever a feud to resolve? We think not. Lively-Swift forever.

Next: Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj

The Fight:

The Nicki Minaj fight was another case of common misunderstanding. Taylor Swift is a known Nicki Minaj fan, but also a known feminist fan, so when both worlds collided, we got this twitter feud. Nicki posted a tweet, which Taylor Swift took personally.

Of course, both women made it clear that this was a misunderstanding, and that no one was to be offended.

The Resolution:

We’re glad to see some feuds be put to rest in an adult manner.

Next: Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus

The Fight:

Here is a story about two girls who just aren’t friends. Now, i’m not sure that I would call this a feud, as the girls don’t really have public fights. These two girls are simply known to not be fans of each other. Recently, Miley has been pretty open about not liking Taylor’s message in her “Bad Blood” music video, and Taylor has called Miley “embarrassing”. There’s not much meat to this story… yet.

The Resolution:

There isn’t really a clear fight to resolve. It’s just a case of two girls who don’t like each other. It happens!

Next: Katy Perry

Katy Perry

The Fight:

Taylor Swift seemed to be a big Katy Perry fan until recently.

From there, everything seems to go just fine. Twitter is filled with love tweets to each other (and each other’s cats), until 2012, when some of Katy’s back up dancers decide to join Taylor Swift’s RED tour. Things started to get interesting when three of the dancers chose to leave Swift’s tour prematurely in order to join Perry on her tour. Once their decision was made, fans quickly noticed that Taylor unfollowed the trio from twitter. Once Taylor penned “Bad Blood”, it became clear that the song was written about Katy Perry. Then came the tweet..

Of course, Taylor passively-aggressively replied in her own video for Blank Space shortly after, by adding a little mean girls reference..

Though we thought that the feud would end there, it did not. From there on out, Katy took part in the Nicki Minaj feud, along with Camilla Belle, who had her own beef with Taylor in 2010 (don’t worry, we’ve got that one coming up).

The Resolution:

None. This is one of the few feuds that haven’t ended in Taylor Swift inviting them on stage. Will these two ever make up? Time will tell!

Next: Camilla Belle

Camilla Belle

The Fight:

This was one of the best swept-under-the-rug feuds that involved Taylor Swift.

In 2009, new-comer Taylor Swift was dating good-boy Joe Jonas. Following their break up, he began dating Camilla Belle. In 2012, Taylor released “Better Than Revenge”, which was supposedly aimed at Belle, with lines such as “Soon she’s gonna find / Stealing other people’s toys / On the playground won’t / Make you many friends” and “She had to know the pain was beating on me like a drum / She underestimated just who she was stealing from.”. Of course, this implied that Belle had stolen Jonas from under her, which began a small feud. Jonas and Belle only lasted a few months, and Joe eventually became friends with Swift, joining her on stage this year, as well as dating her friend, Gigi Hadid. Camilla Belle was not so quick to forgive and forget, as she dropped her subtle hint in the Swift-Perry-Minaj feud as previously mentioned.

The Resolution:

None. Though we thought the feud was a teenage-tiff, her recent tweet shows that Camilla Belle hasn’t gotten over it.

Next: Diplo

Diplo

The Fight:

What Diplo now calls “one of the biggest mistakes in his career”, all started off with a Tweet (see a pattern?)

Taylor Swift stood back, but bestie Lorde came to the rescue, tweeting that Diplo might need help “genetically” himself. Taylor’s fans also came to her defense, shaming Diplo.

The Resolution:

I wouldn’t say that these two are friends, as Diplo has gone on to say that Swift fans are some of the worst people in the world (of course, he did get death threats, which is taking this all too far), however, he does state that it was a big mistake. I don’t think that we’ll be hearing from Diplo for a while.

Next: Kanye West

Kanye West

The Fight:

The feud of the century.

As we know, this all started in 2009, when Kanye interrupted Taylor’s VMA acceptance speech, claiming that Beyonce should have won the award. Shocked, Taylor Swift quickly wrapped up her speech and left.

After the birth of his daughter, Kanye opened up and apologized for what he had done. He claimed that having a daughter made him realize that he would never want someone to take a moment like that away from North, and he shouldn’t have taken Taylor’s away from her.

The Resolution:

Enter Jay-Z. This is my favorite resolution ever.

Jay-Z just shows up like the king that he is, and makes the two reconcile. Not only do they make up, but there has been gossip about the two making music together. Until then, we will appreciate every cute photo of the two that they will share.

Praise Hova.
