How to Get Away with Murder: 3 Suspects for Killing Wes

Rather than ask three questions, it’s time to look at three potential suspects for the murder of Wes on How to Get Away with Murder.

Note: Not sure of what went down on How to Get Away with Murder? Never fear — Culturess has a recap for that.

It seems that our key mystery for How to Get Away with Murder’s third season has been revealed: who killed Wes? Not only does that represent the biggest death so far, it also has cracked the Keating Four more than ever. Asher punching Connor repeatedly in the face just represented the start of it all. No, yours truly thinks it’ll get worse before it gets better, and so Wes’ killer needs to be found and, depending on who he or she is, kicked out of the group.

As a result, it’s time to look at three potential suspects.

Frank

Although Frank denied killing Wes to Bonnie early in the episode, it all ends with him confessing that he did it to the police. Which is it? That remains to be seen. However, it’s entirely possible that he’s saying he did it only to take the fall for Annalise. (Laurel suggests this in the promo for this week’s episode.)

However, Frank’s general job is to get rid of any threats, even now when he’s a bit more out of the loop than he has been in previous seasons. Additionally, we know he saw Wes alive, and he’s the last person to have done so at this time. At the same time, though, the cover-up seems out of character for him. Why would he do it in such a way that any suspicion at all fell on Annalise? That would defeat the entire purpose of the exercise, really.

For now, we lean towards Frank’s being innocent, at least of this crime.

The Keating Four

No, not even Laurel’s excluded from this, though she seems the least likely candidate to have killed Wes. As for Asher and Michaela, we’ll slide them into the middle tier of it all, and they’d likely kill together. However, Laurel says she only saw one shadow. Perhaps Asher did it himself in a fit of anger, then went to Michaela to help him cover it all up?

Connor, though, still seems like he could have done it. For much of last week’s episode, he talked about Oliver going to the cops and putting an end to all that’s happened over the past three seasons. What if his first action to do that was to kill Wes and start the investigation into Annalise all over again?

Annalise

Much as we want to believe that Annalise’s reaction to seeing Wes dead was genuine, we just can’t deem her innocent yet. Maybe it was an accident. But unless and until the police come up with something better, she has to stay on the suspect list.
